Passenger NNW Compensation – How to Claim It

Personal Accident Insurance (NNW) is voluntary, non-mandatory insurance assigned to the vehicle. If the vehicle owner has purchased NNW insurance, injured passengers involved in an accident may also receive compensation under this policy. Compensation from NNW is an independent benefit from the compensation due under the third-party liability insurance (OC) of the at-fault party. Therefore, two claims can be pursued simultaneously.
Who is NNW insurance for?
NNW insurance can be purchased in two options: NNW for the driver, or NNW for the driver and passengers. Compensation may be received even when the vehicle driver is responsible for causing the accident, whereas third-party liability insurance (OC) will not provide compensation if we caused the accident ourselves. An additional advantage of NNW insurance is its low premium.
When can we receive NNW compensation?
You are entitled to NNW compensation if you suffered an injury as a result of an accident, meaning that your body was permanently or temporarily damaged. It should be remembered that compensation will not be paid, for example, in the event of fainting, as this does not constitute an injury.
When claiming NNW compensation, it is also important whether the accident occurred while the vehicle was being driven or while it was stationary. You should check the terms and conditions of the insurance policy, as some insurers’ NNW policies do not cover damage occurring while the vehicle is stationary.
How to report an NNW claim?
When reporting a claim, it is important to provide documents confirming that you were injured in the accident, such as a hospital discharge summary. It is also important to comply with the claim reporting deadline specified in the general terms and conditions of the insurance policy (OWU).
If you were injured in an accident and suffered an injury, check whether you are entitled to NNW compensation. After submitting the appropriate documents to the insurer, you should receive the benefit within 30 days.
